On August 7, the OWS Development Fund proudly participated in the celebrations for World Breastfeeding Week held in Jijiga. Represented by our dedicated staff member, Lamia Mohamud Ismail, the event brought together several esteemed guests and leaders in the field of health and child welfare.
Among the notable attendees were the heads of the Regional Health Bureau, the Bureau of Women and Child Affairs, Somali regional state President, humanitarian sector Advisor Ahmed Ismail, Food and Drug Authority Head Abdulahi Mahamud Mataan, Islamic Affairs Office representative Ustaad Junayd Hamse, and leaders from UNICEF, WFP, and WHO for the Somali Region. The event also saw participation from numerous local NGOs, highlighting a strong collaborative effort to promote breastfeeding and support maternal and child health in the community.
These celebrations emphasized the importance of breastfeeding, and the collective efforts needed to raise awareness and foster a supportive environment for breastfeeding.
